Former President Donald Trump‘s 2020 campaign attorney Jenna Ellis became the third of his team of ex-attorneys to plead guilty to charges in the Georgia election subversion and racketeering case on Tuesday.
Jenna Ellis is the fourth defendant to plead guilty in the case, which accuses 19 people, including Trump, of conspiring to overturn the election in the Peach State.
Her agreement with prosecutors comes less than two weeks after two others, Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, negotiated deals just hours before heading to trial.
Ellis pleaded guilty to one felony count of aiding and abetting false statements and writings in Georgia. The count is tied to her testimony before a Georgia Senate subcommittee on Dec. 3, 2020, alongside Rudy Giuliani and Ray Smith.
“How do you plead?” Fulton County prosecutor Daysha Young asked her Tuesday morning.
“Guilty,” Ellis said.
The terms of Ellis’s agreement include her sentence to five years probation, a $5,000 restitution to the Georgia Secretary of State’s Office, 100 hours of community service, an apology letter to the state of Georgia, and her truthful testimony to be used in future trials related to the sweeping racketeering case.
Ellis made a statement inside the courtroom after her plea, holding back tears and saying she “failed to do my due diligence” as an attorney involved with Trump’s post-election challenges back in 2020.
“If I knew then what I know now, I would have declined to represent Donald Trump in these post-election challenges. I look back on this experience with deep remorse,” Ellis said.
Atlanta-area bail bondsman Scott Hall also entered a deal with prosecutors in September.
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis charged Ellis, Trump, and 17 others in August in a sweeping racketeering indictment that accused each of them of conspiring to keep Trump in power after the 2020 election.
Following Powell’s plea deal on Thursday, Chesebro was set to go to trial alone beginning this week in Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee’s court. But just as jury selection was commencing Friday, Chesebro also took a deal with prosecutors that has similar terms as the ones Ellis must now follow, including providing truthful testimony.

Ellis initially faced two felony charges in the indictment. The 98-page, 41-count indictment alleged she urged state legislators in key swing states President Joe Biden won to appoint presidential electors who would vote for Trump.
