Venezuela’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Joaquin Perez stressed that Caracas would be a “great addition” to BRICS, particularly because of its substantial oil reserves.
“We believe that the multipolar world has already emerged. And it is now strengthening, and BRICS is at the forefront of this new multipolar world … and Venezuela wants to contribute to strengthening this new world,” the envoy told RIA Novosti.
Venezuela President Nicolas Maduro previously expressed the country’s readiness to join BRICS.

“And if those people from the north [the US] and their followers in the world make the mistake of their lives, these oil and gas blocs, which have already been signed, will go to our allies in BRICS,” the president warned.
