HASTINGS, Neb. – Two explosions destroyed a home and killed one person early Sunday morning in Hastings.
Around 3:15 a.m., police and firefighters were called to a residence for a reported explosion.
Authorities said that once first responders got to the scene, a second explosion occurred within the home, destroying the house.
One person was found dead in the debris. Authorities are working to identify them.
The preliminary investigation found that the explosions were due to “destructive devices,” according to authorities.
The Nebraska State Patrol Bomb Squad has been working to collect evidence to further the investigation.
Gas was shut off to neighbors to determine the cause of the explosion, and once it was determined not to be from gas, the services were restored.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
