Due to suspected sabotage, the Bundeswehr barracks in Cologne-Wahn have been sealed off. Irregularities were found at a waterworks, and a hole was discovered in a fence.

After irregularities were discovered at a waterworks, investigators at the Bundeswehr barracks in Cologne-Wahn are looking into the suspicion of a criminal act against the Bundeswehr.

The barracks have been sealed off for this reason. The “Spiegel” was the first to report this.

Several offices are housed in the barracks. The Bundeswehr’s Air Force Squadron, responsible for the travel of cabinet members and high-ranking government officials, is also based there.

Hole in the Fence, Water Supply Sabotaged?

Following indications of a disturbance, a hole in a fence was also discovered. This raised the initially unconfirmed suspicion that the water supply might have been sabotaged. Water samples were taken for investigation.

According to Spiegel, soldiers are not allowed to draw drinking water. The barracks have their own waterworks.

According to the reports, the barracks were no longer allowed to be entered or exited. The police cordoned off the area extensively.

However, there have been no injuries or noticeable cases of illness so far, said Lieutenant Colonel Ulrich Fonrobert in the afternoon in front of the barracks in Cologne-Wahn.

Trespassing at NATO Base in Geilenkirchen

Independently of the sabotage at the military base in Cologne-Wahn, it was also reported that the NATO base in Geilenkirchen had been sealed off.

This could not be confirmed upon inquiry by ZDFheute. A military spokesperson said it was a small “irregularity that was discovered during daily operations.”

A person had unlawfully entered the premises and was removed.

The incident in Cologne-Wahn was noted in Geilenkirchen, and their own water supply was checked. No irregularities were found. The NATO base remains accessible and operational, according to Geilenkirchen.
